It’s not so simple…

Sunday we began a new series at MCC, called “Simple”. During the month of August we will be focusing on living a more focused and intentional life, specifically in four areas: time, relationships, money, and with God.

We began the series by looking at a parable that Jesus tells in Luke 8 about four types of soil. Each type of soil teaches us a powerful lesson, but we focused in on the “thorny soil”.

Jesus said, The seed that fell among thorns stands for those who hear, but as they go on their way they are choked by life’s worries, riches and pleasures, and they do not mature.” [v.14,TNIV]

We took away an important truth from this passage: God wants us to mature!

God’s goal is to transform us, to shape us, to mold us into the people he created us to be. Which sounds wonderful!

But then you have to deal with the thorns. They can choke the life out of what God is doing in us.

That’s why we need to live intentionally. We need focus.

Simple isn’t easy. But it is the way to a full, abundant, well-lived life.

Are there any thorns growing in your life right now?
